I’m excited to participate in WTG to help more girls to start their career in IT. I remember how hard it was in the beginning, how I was frantically searching google for “how to get your first job in IT”. I could not imagine that in 3 years I would become Senior iOS Developer.

I’m so grateful that I was able to participate in Accenture Bootcamp, that my mentor believed in me, that my manager took a chance and offered me a job. I would not be where I am today if not for amazing people that helped me in the beginning.

Now it’s my turn to help other people to change their lives for the better.

I am a self-taught front-end developer, and I’ve been in front-end development for several years now. However, front-end development was not my first career choice – I have a master’s degree in Economics, and for some time I was pursuing a career in finance when I realised that that is not a path I want to pursue. Then I decided to shift my career from economics to the IT sector, I initially started with software quality assurance testing. Soon after it became obvious to me that I would like to write code for the applications I was writing tests for. So, I looked into the software development paths and took on the front-end development where I currently work.

Hey, Gals! My name is Martynas and I love software development!
I started working as a developer in my freshman year, firstly as a back-end developer, later I’ve gotten a job as a full-stack developer. And even later I’ve transitioned to a front-end developer. And oh jeez – I can tell you that over my career I’ve been through different kinds of stuff, worked with dinosaurs and created unicorns. Currently, I’m working as a Team Lead in Hyarchis and lately I did not write that much code, but I’ve gotten to do all the other fun activities that are also software development – code reviewing, shaping our backlog, defining user stories and helping my team achieve the best we’re capable of.
I might be boring as hell, but in my free time, I’m also developing. I see personal projects as advantageous in at least two ways – they’re super fun to create AND you learn soo much.

I am a front-end developer with a quite extraordinary career path. I started by finishing medicine and got a medical doctor degree. Then I thought: “Oops! Wrong degree” and switched to software engineering. My career as a developer began in the back-end with C#, .NET. However, love for the front-end took over. Currently I am working with React, even though my tech stack is not limited by this library. I believe that developers should not stick to only one technology, because it comes and goes.
